Volumetric Efficiency Calculator
Enter your displacement, RPM and measured airflow to get real volumetric efficiency — how well your engine is actually filling its cylinders compared to the theoretical maximum.
Your Numbers
Example values below are a naturally-aspirated inline-4 near peak torque — overwrite with your own.
From a flow bench, dyno airflow log, or MAF reading converted to L/min. This has to be a real measurement — VE can’t be estimated from guesswork.

How to read this: 100% VE means the engine is filling each cylinder exactly to its swept volume every cycle. Naturally-aspirated engines typically peak around 80–95% (a genuinely well-tuned head/cam combo can reach 100%+ at the torque peak); forced induction can push well past 100% because boost pressure packs more air in than atmospheric pressure alone. This is a measurement-based number, not a target — it only means something if the airflow figure you enter is real.
